Rathmore & District CU scoop 2 awards at the All-Ireland Credit Union Awards
Rathmore & District Credit Union Celebrates Double Success at All-Ireland Credit Union Awards
Rathmore & District Credit Union are celebrating a memorable night of success after receiving the All-Ireland Credit Union Members' Choice Award and seeing long-serving volunteer Neily Mahony honoured with the All-Ireland Credit Union Lifetime Achievement Award.
The two national awards recognise both the strength of the Credit Union's relationship with its members and the exceptional contribution made by Neily Mahony over almost five decades of voluntary service.
Neily's Lifetime Achievement Award acknowledges an extraordinary 48 years of voluntary dedication to Rathmore & District Credit Union and the wider community. Since joining the Board of Directors in 1978, he has played a significant role in the growth and development of the Credit Union, helping guide it from its early beginnings to the strong and thriving member-owned financial institution it is today.
Over the course of his voluntary service, Neily has contributed more than 24,000 hours to Rathmore & District Credit Union, the Credit Union movement and the wider community, and has been a passionate advocate for volunteerism, community development and member service. His knowledge, commitment and leadership have influenced generations of volunteers, staff and members while helping preserve the values that remain at the heart of the Credit Union movement.
Adding to the celebrations, Rathmore & District Credit Union was also honoured with the All-Ireland Credit Union Members' Choice Award. Determined by public vote, the award recognises the strong connection between the Credit Union and the members and communities it serves.
Chairperson Abina O'Sullivan said:
"This was a hugely proud occasion for Rathmore & District Credit Union. Neily's Lifetime Achievement Award is recognition of a remarkable contribution spanning 48 years, and nobody is more deserving of this honour. His dedication, generosity and commitment to the Credit Union movement have left an enduring legacy for our organisation and our community. To also receive the Members' Choice Award made the occasion even more special, as it reflects the trust and support of our members and communities."
CEO Fergus McAuliffe added:
"These awards are a remarkable achievement for Rathmore & District Credit Union. Neily's Lifetime Achievement Award recognises a lifetime of service and commitment that has helped shape our Credit Union over many decades. His leadership and dedication have made a lasting impact on our members, staff, volunteers and community. Winning the Members' Choice Award is particularly meaningful because it was decided by the people we serve. We are extremely grateful to everyone who took the time to vote and support us."
Speaking following the announcement, Neily Mahony said:
"I am deeply honoured and humbled to receive this award. Being involved with Rathmore & District Credit Union has been a privilege and a huge part of my life for many years. The Credit Union has always been about people helping people, and I have been fortunate to work alongside dedicated volunteers, Board members and staff who share that commitment. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported me throughout the years, and I am proud to accept this award on behalf of all those who have contributed to the success of our Credit Union."
Rathmore & District Credit Union thanked its members, staff, Board of Directors, volunteers and wider community for their continued support and for helping make the double success possible.
Neily Mahony and his Credit Union colleagues received a wonderful welcome home at Rathmore Train Station on their return from Dublin on Sunday. A large crowd gathered at the station to greet the group and celebrate their success. There was a fantastic atmosphere as friends, family, members of the community and Credit Union staff came together to share in the occasion, congratulate the team, and take photographs with Neily, the awards, and the Credit Union representatives.
