Holy Family NS crowned Credit Union Schools Quiz champions!

Congratulations to Holy Family National School, Rathmore, on their fantastic win in the Credit Union Schools Quiz, National Final, in the RDS, Dublin, on Sunday.

Having already been successful at the local quiz in Rathmore and the Chapter quiz in Tralee they qualified for the National Finals taking part in the Under 11 Competition as one of 44 finalists.

The four students, Kayleigh White, Eabha Buckley, Diarmuid Horan and Conor McCarthy performed admirably throughout. After Round 5 they were 2 points behind the leaders but gradually made their way back and were level after Round 8. They took the lead in Round 9 and held this in the final round with a final score of 41 points. The next two schools scored 40 points each.

There were huge cheers and celebrations among the travelling party which included the families of the students, teachers Anne Marie Murphy and Paul Horan (Principal), and our own Credit Union representatives, Abina O’Sullivan (Chairperson), Neily Mahony (Director) and Fergus McAuliffe (CEO).

Special mention must go to Anne Marie Murphy for her work preparing the team in recent weeks and also for her dedication to her school over many years in relation to the Credit Union School Quiz. They are fully deserving of their win after all the work that they put in.
