As part of our continued growth and development, we are now seeking to recruit a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team in a key development-focused role.

The Role

We are recruiting for a Business Development Officer on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and relationship-driven individual to support the continued growth of Rathmore & District Credit Union through strong lending performance, community engagement, and local promotion of our services.

The successful candidate will play a key role in both lending activity and community-facing initiatives, helping to strengthen the credit union’s presence and deepen member engagement across the common bond area.

The role will require flexibility to work across all three offices, Rathmore, Milltown & Ballydesmond.

The role reports to the CEO and works closely with the wider team to deliver on strategic growth and member service objectives.

The successful candidate will have an appreciation and an awareness of the credit union ethos and an ability to work co-operatively with other credit unions to share experiences, leverage expertise and drive common goals.

Key Responsibilities

 Lending & Financial Services

• Assess, process, and underwrite personal, business and mortgage lending applications in line with credit union lending policies and regulatory requirements
• Promote responsible lending and support members in making informed financial decisions
• Deliver a high standard of member service throughout the loan application process
• Support ongoing review and improvement of lending processes and procedures
• Work closely with staff to develop membership and lending opportunities within the credit union

Marketing, Promotion & Community Engagement

• Act as a visible ambassador for Rathmore & District Credit Union within the community across our common bonds
• Support marketing and promotional activities across digital and traditional channels
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local community groups, schools, and organisations
• Develop member engagement opportunities to ensure the credit union remains connected to its members, especially as they transition from physical to digital engagements
• Contribute to the creation, development, design and implementation of a cohesive, targeted annual marketing and member engagement plan
• Promote credit union services and strengthen brand awareness within the common bond area
• Manage marketing campaigns and social media presence

General Duties & Flexibility

• Work across Rathmore, Milltown, and Ballydesmond offices as required
• Support the wider team in delivering excellent member service
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and member-focused working environment
• Undertake other duties as required to support the effective operation of the credit union

Requirements

• An APA or QFA qualification is highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates holding an APA or QFA qualification.
• Experience in financial services is required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
• Knowledge of lending processes and credit assessment is desired
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• A genuine interest in community development and member-focused service
• Full clean driving licence and flexibility to travel between offices and attend community events
